ESSMANN bases
for arcade rooflights
are made of 2 mm or 3 mm galvanised sheet steel, depending on technical requirements, and are always vertical in design. The single-skinned bases are fitted with spacer bars to absorb horizontal forces and serve as a mounting aid. Surface-mounted bases are made from 2 mm material and are mounted as a single unit. Self-supporting bases with a truss distance of up to 6 m are made from 2 mm material and can be mounted as a single unit, while those with a truss distance of up to 8 m can be mounted as base elements that are 3 mm thick. The base element splay is rectangular in design. ESSMANN bases for arcade rooflights are structured as follows: Butt connectors and angle pieces are used to connect the individual butt elements to one another. The brackets included in the scope of supply are used to mount the assembled base on the relevant support.

ESSMANN bases provided by the customer
for arcade rooflights
can be made from a wide range of materials such as concrete, wood, etc. The base section of the arcade rooflight being used is fixed to these upstands. The top chord of the base provided by the customer must be horizontal and level so that the base section can be mounted properly. In the case of concrete upstands, only a short edge is available for fixing the base section, which means that a timber plank (at least 5 cm thick) must be attached by the customer. The base structure provided by the customer must be capable of bearing the horizontal and vertical static loads created by the arcade rooflight structure. Additional equipment such as spacer bars may be required.

ESSMANN base safety connection
for arcade rooflights
links the critical connection point of the roofing membrane provided by the customer in the area of the base to the arcade rooflight connection. The geometry and flexibility of the base safety connection enable the roofer to design perfect and secure base connections for metal sheeting and for bitumen and plastic membranes. The base and arcade rooflight can be mounted in one step, irrespective of the type of roofing membrane used. The base safety connection is made of EPDM and is fitted to the upper side of the base, fixed and flashed with the base section of the arcade rooflight system prior to assembling the base seal and the arcade rooflight. The arcade rooflight can then be mounted straightaway.

Product features at a glance:

  • Perfect and secure base connection
  • Secure flashing of roof connections
  • Thermal separation of metal sheeting
  • Base and arcade rooflight can be mounted in one step, irrespective of the type of roofing membrane used
  • Easy corner profiles
  • No corner pieces required
  • Flexible connection
  • Leak-proof butt joints with no need for additional seals
  • System-compatible flash rail with no need for additional seals
  • No additional splays required in the connecting sheets
  • No damage to the upper roof membrane, as the base can be connected after the arcade rooflight has been mounted

The instructions for installing roof sealing systems must be observed at all times.
